Philadelphia Antiques Show 2022
101 THE PH I LADE L PH I A SHOW Joe Gromacki: Collector, Chicago, IL and Kelton House Farm, outside Milwaukee, WI “The Philadelphia Antiques Show always offers special material for collectors. Over the last few decades, I have tried to make the trip from Chicago to the preview party, as the show is a highlight of the year. One of my favorite acquisitions at the show was an early eighteenth century stretcher table with an untouched original surface, having a provenance linking its origin to the Ephrata Cloister in Lancaster County. I acquired this piece nearly two decades ago from the long-time and highly regarded dealer in Pennsylvania furniture and decorative arts, Philip Bradley, and it formed the basis for an important grouping of early Pennsylvania furniture assembled over many years.” Connie Mayock and Holly Luff: Two generations of Show Chairs “We were the first mother-daughter duo both to chair the show. My mother, Connie Mayock, chaired in 1975 and 1976 and I chaired in 2000. The show was an integral part of my childhood in the 60’s. The committee made all the food offered in the Eagle Café. I absolutely remember clearing plates and glasses and wiping the tabletops when I was in middle school. Years later I remember being nine months pregnant and waiting in the printer’s office for the catalogue delivery. That catalogue arrived before the baby, but just barely. I also remember my mother, on the last night of the show, pushing the bar cart around in her fuzzy pink slippers!” Connie Mayock and Holly Luff 18th century Stretcher Table
