Philadelphia Antiques Show 2022
100 A LOOK BACK Hannah Henderson: Collector and Volunteer “I remember the marine dealer, Hyland Granby, who exhibited for many years at our show. My husband, Welles, bought many wonderful objects from him. Years later Welles gave many of them to the Independence Seaport Museum here in Philadelphia.” Joan Johnson: Collector, Volunteer and Loan Exhibit Expert “While decorating a ‘country’ guest room for Ted Kapnek, a prominent collector of formal furniture, he asked me to get involved in the Philadelphia Antiques Show. That led to over 30 years of curating the Loan Exhibit. I was so lucky to get superb collectors to co-chair each exhibit and learned so much from each experience. That led to my husband Vic and me becoming passionate collectors of many of those subjects. My favorite Loan Exhibit was my first in 1976, where we introduced Folk Art to an audience that never considered it important. My latest purchase at the show was inspired by our chair exhibit from a few years back. It is a rare Windsor writing armchair made in Connecticut by Colonel Ebenezer Tracey purchased from the dealer, Arthur Liverant.” Alan Granby and Hannah Henderson Colonel Ebenezer Tracey Windsor Writing Armchair
